Czech Grand Design Awards 2026: Celebrating the Best of Czech Design

The gala ceremony took place on 11 March 2026 at the Estates Theatre in Prague. The overall winner of the awards and recipient of the title Grand Designer of the Year was Czech designer Jiří Krejčiřík. He also received the Designer of the Year Award, presented by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.

The jury was particularly impressed by his collections of lighting objects and his authorial furniture piece Audio Altar, which represent a sensitive combination of design, craftsmanship, and contemporary aesthetics. Krejčiřík is one of the prominent figures of the current Czech design scene, and his work has long existed at the intersection of product design and artistic objects.

Eva Eisler Inducted into the Hall of Fame

The gala evening also included the induction of a new personality into the Hall of Fame of Czech design. This year’s recipient was jewellery artist, designer, and educator Eva Eisler, who was recognised for her lifelong contribution to Czech applied arts and design.

A Showcase of the Best in Czech Design

The Czech Grand Design Awards annually present a selection of projects across fields including product design, fashion, jewellery, graphic design, photography, and illustration. Finalists are selected by an expert jury from projects created during the previous year.

The evaluation covers works presented to the public between 1 December of the previous year and 30 November of the year being assessed. The anniversary edition also highlighted the strong presence of a younger generation of designers who are bringing new approaches to design, materials, and production processes.
