Humanity and Quality of Realisations Defined the Czech Architecture Award 2025
The main winner of the Czech Architecture Award 2025 was House for Julinka, the first children’s hospice in the Czech Republic. The project was designed by Tomáš Págo, Milan Joja, and Karel Kubza from the studio ČTYŘSTĚN architekti, together with landscape architect Marek Holán. The project also received the Public Award and the Award of the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil – recognitions that have elevated it beyond purely professional acclaim.
The jury particularly praised the sensitive integration of architecture with respite care, the emphasis on contact with nature, and the creation of an environment that supports calmness and dignity.
The international jury also recognised other outstanding projects that received the title of Finalist. These include, for example, the Reconstruction and Extension of the ERA Production Building (designed by Jiří Bíza and Tomáš Novotný), the Park at Moravské Square in Brno (Martin Sládek, Janica Šipulová), a family house in Polanka nad Odrou (Pavla and Martin Vymetálkovi), and Villa Sidonius (Ján Stempel and Jan Jakub Tesař / Stempel Tesař architekti).
The Alena Šrámková Award, presented for the first time this year, went to the Sklad_13 Community Centre in Řevnice (Šárka Sodomková / Sodomka*Sodomková Architekti). The jury highlighted the project both for the quality of its design and for its contribution to increasing the visibility of women in architecture.
In the Honourable Mention category, the jury recognised the comprehensive solution of anti-erosion measures and landscape modifications in Vohančice (designed by Jana Janíková and Denisa Hrubanová) for its synthesis of technical precision, ecological value, and social benefit.
The awards ceremony took place on 13 November at Forum Karlín and was broadcast live on Czech Television’s iVysílání platform. The recording of the gala evening, as well as 25 profiles of the nominated buildings including short interviews with the architects, is available on iVysílání ČT.
The Czech Architecture Award annually highlights projects that influence people’s lives and the quality of the environments in which we live. In 2025, it once again inspired not only architecture professionals but also the wider public.
